How about skipping the beta and test the software thoroughly yourselves? You have major issues you introduced with 2.4.1 such as the PA and Plate Solve failures, EAF refusing to run as well as unadvised and very unpopular cosmetic "features" such as the catalog display format. Your remarkably faithful users have been begging for YEARS to have you include Rotation Angle and Filter Drawer Content keywords in the FITS header. Fixes for those things need to be included in the next release before you introduce and new unsolicited functionality. You need to stay in touch with your customer base here on THIS forum, or you will not have a customer base any more.

Amen. The catalog is a mess, with hidden features not apparent. Of course we could look in the manual, but there isn't one.

The release was a clear case of ready, fire, aim.

While it is possible to display the current RA and declination, there is no facility to set these and GOTO that coordinate. This is essential for objects not in the catalog.

The Preview screen has your current RA and Dec coordinates. You can set up new coordinates by pressing on the boxes, enter your new RA and Dec, and then pressing GoTo.

RE the poor WIFI performance.

I did a few experiments during club nights where we have about 10 users of ASIAir, and found the following, using 2.4.1 and also 2.3.3. About 6 iOS, 4 Android users.

For a single user of ASIAir more than 100m from any other WIFI devices, the WiFI connection worked smoothly for upwards of 6 hours running imaging sessions. This appears to be repeatable - provided there are no other WiFi networks within 100m.
With other WiFI networks in close proximity (less than 10 metres) - especially other ASIAir devices - the ASIAir application will freeze unpredictably - sometimes repeatably within just a few minutes. After experiencing this several times - and with three iOS devices each with the app installed, I was able to confirm this is actually the ASIAir app locking up in iOS.

The quickest way to recover from this is to shutdown and restart the iOS device, re-connect the WiFI and then launch the AISAir app again. NB: I was able to prove the rest of the iOS device (ie iOS and other applications) and their networking functions are not affected.

The ASIAir unit itself continues to function OK and will accept a new connection without the need to restart it. For example, if this occurs during an imaging session, after reconnecting it is evident that guiding and imaging are still running perfectly well.

This implies these lockups are due to a bug in your ASIAir app - not in the firmware - somewhere in the way it implements TCP/IP over WiFI. You need to find a TCP/IP network programmer to fix this.

This is a long-standing bug which remains unfixed, and is seriously annoying to most users.

Luxo This has been fixed since v2.3.1. Setting the CAA rotation mode to 180° will prevent this problem.

No it is not fixed - I want to turn auto rotation OFF, not select 180 degrees then check to see if it has enough cable.
Rotation should be MANUAL, ONLY.

Honestly your software people quite frankly are amateurs - I am an electrical engineer and used to run big software hardware and software projects for 40 years - trains, air traffic control, power stations, electricity networks.

You really need to fire them and go find some more professional. I'd even volunteer to fix it for free, if I didn't have a day job that pays well. In my spare time I am also an Apple developer and also write apps for iOS.

I even offered to donate the manual I started, for free, if that will help you get started, but instead you deleted the thread and the post. At least you cannot stop me posting the link on CN. It has had over a thousand downloads.

I got as far as being able to scroll ra and Dec numbers but that did nothing - and no GOTO button.

If there was, the UI design is very poor.

ZWO you really must document this. Having “undocumented features” hidden where users cannot find them is not acceptable.

GOTO a target using RA and Dec - I was looking for a little square icon with a cross, as used on the planetarium display. It's GO, the rounded green button. Right, now we have that one sorted.
CAA rotating after meridian flip. Setting the rotation RANGE to 180 is what stops this.
When mounting the CAA and camera on the scope it's inevitable the camera will be at some odd angle. The optional handset from the EAF is essential to rotate the camera to a suitable starting orientation. This really needs to be said.

As I have said many times, you do really need to provide a manual with actual screenshots pointing out what to press. If I am making these mistakes it's not obvious for the dummies.

Can't help you with the CAA, unfrotunately, as I don't have one nor do I intend on purchasing one.

I wholeheartedly agree that the manual needs to be seriously updated (the current version of the ASIAIR Plus Manual here - https://www.yuque.com/zwopkb/air_plus - is needs to be updated and also, in some cases, refers to the ASIAIR Manual here - https://www.yuque.com/zwopkb/asiair - which also needs updating).

I do know that @PMTeam@ZWO @Tech@ZWO have said (either here or in the official Facebook Group here - https://www.facebook.com/groups/ASIAIR) that they are working on it. Guess it will take time.

Re your "manuals".

When you update your manual it is important to call out the key steps or buttons on the screenshots, as I did. Many of your pages on yuque are meaningless without this.
In my country we do have beautiful clear dark sky sites - but we do not have internet everywhere as you do in China. Often there is NO INTERNET for 50km, so your yuque pages are not accessible at such locations. Internet pages are not helpful. Please publish your manual as a downloadable PDF so we can keep the whole thing locally, or even print it.
It would be best if the correct version of your manual - as a PDF - was part of the application download, so that the documentation matches the software version. Then let the user launch the PDF from within ASIAir.

Last night I did run into a CAA and meridian flip issue. It was set to 180 degree range but it tried to rotate from 179.374 degrees to 359.069 degrees. And since 359.069 degrees rotated the EFW to below it hit the peer. So meridian flip failed because CAA encountered an obstruction and the ASIAIR cancelled the plan and shut down. Nothing broken or damaged but it cost me half the night of imaging. Tonight I’m going to do another run but I’ll make sure to set the right orientation and then shut down CAA to prevent another meridian flip fail.
I’ve submitted an error report in the ASIAIR app. Hopefully it gets a fix. It would be really useful being able to avoid having the EFW turned upside down. Especially when the meridian flip occurs when the object is close to zenith.

I just tried a meridian flip with rotation range set to 180 - you’re right the CAA still rotates.

This is NOT FIXED.

@ZWO - please remove the range limit and replace that with a BUTTON to set autorotate after meridian flip ON or OFF. And please TEST it and make sure this works.

I’m now replacing the CAA again with a manual rotator as I cannot allow it to do this.
