Had a couple of hours with the release version of 2.5 at a club night with approx 10 ASIAir rigs in close proximity.
Usual setup with 254mm f/12 MCT with ASI2600MC DUO, mount is a CQ350.
Polar alignment: plate-solving on Octans definitely fails with the new plate solve but works perfectly with the original slower version.
Used the star atlas to pick a random star field in Orion (near Alnitak) and GOTO that. There is definitely something really weird in your coordinate system as where it thinks the scope is pointing vs where it’s actually from plate solving differed by a degree.
Selected NGC1232 and attempted a GOTO. Again landed a degree off target. Manually dragged the atlas to the target.
Flipped RA axis and tried GOTO on the other side. Success this time, target was close to centred.
Autofocus worked OK
Guiding. - guiding seems better in both axes.
AUTORUN - worked ok. All settings tested and worked ok.
PLAN: had a look at the settings, all looked fine - no Chinese text.
Ran out of time to try running PLAN, LIVE or VIDEO, will try next time.
Conclusions:
It worked and reliably - no WiFI dropouts or crashes.
Auto guiding seems to perform better than before - or else the seeing was better than average.
The “new plate solve” failed consistently every time. The original plate solve worked ok most of the time.
In particular the new plate solve fails on Octans so cannot be used for polar alignment at this image scale.
Will email log and screenshots of the GOTO behaviour tomorrow.
