Brand new ASI Air Pro - updated to latest firmware. The D5300 is not recognized by the ASI Air Pro. I have the camera in the correct settings, I've tried every USB port, the cable works fine on my iMac. I've tried powering on the camera before or after the ASI Air powers up, etc. Is this camera no longer supported, despite your website stating it is? I have ordered a new cable just in case, but doubt that will fix the problem. My Nikon D500 works fine on the ASI Air Pro. Please advise.

Hello, it is supported. Plz check the settings and pay note that the WiFi built in D5300 was turned off.

I have the same problem with the D5300. I connected via cinch cable (ZWO AsiAir N3 shutter release cable). WiFi is off. It‘s the new ASI Air Pro.

Hello, try usB2.0 instead of USB. And then can you upload the log so we can develop it and see what's causing it

I've tried every USB port with three different cables. Same problem. Please advise, this is annoying. My D500 works fine with the OEM cable. has to be a software problem. How can I upload the log?

Let me provide more information. When I first start up the unit everything seems to work fine. The camera is recognized and works well, which is better than the OEM cable, as that NEVER worked, camera could not be recognized at all. But after a few minutes it randomly disconnects from the ASI Air Pro. So I have to re-connect it in the software (not physically). My second cable seemed to have a poor physical connection, I could move it ever so slightly and the camera would always disconnect. But my new cables I ordered do not have that problem. It just disconnects at random without any movement of the telescope, or cable, or anything. Super frustrating when you're trying to get images and this thing is so unreliable. Again, my D500 camera had no issues all night last night. I've tried USB 3 and USB 2. No change. Anyone else having similar problems?

Finally success, at least for now. I tried a fourth cable, purchased from Amazon (USB Cable for Nikon DSLR D5300 Camera, and USB Computer Cord for Nikon DSLR D5300; Brand: Excelshots, $8.99) and plugged it in to the top USB 3.0 port. Worked al last night with no issues. Unbelievable. Of course Im not at all confident it will continue to do so, but time will tell; hope I'm wrong as the ASI Air is a nice piece of equipment at a good price point I think.

I am having the exact same problem with the same camera and have gone through four cables, including the same one chichiflys purchased from Amazon. I uploaded my log. This is extremely frustrating.

Seems the cables are the key point. We have one D5300 and tested so many time without issues.

    Dear all,
I'm having the same problem to get the Nikon d5300 connected with AsiarPro, it can't be just the cables, to many (people and cables) have tried it with no sucess. I bought the N3 shutter relase cable, here at ZWO. I did every settings on the camera as mentioned but nothing worked since now...maybe it is just small thing?
    I have several quetions:

    1. Are the settings correct, please check images attached, thanks!

    2. When I change any settings on the camera, would Asair detect it on the fly or do I have to restart everything?
    3. I will get a new 8 Pin Camera Mini USB B Cable to connect the Nikon, does this help?
      Thank you very much!!

      Okay, this is very silly...
Actually you need two cables from Nikon to ASIAR Pro. The shutter relase Cable (N3), which you can buy here at the ZWO store but you need also the data cable (8 Pin Camera Mini USB B Cable). Then every thing works fine now (at least for me), and I used the setting above, see pictures.
I hope this helps other beginner like me.... 🙂
      Best regards

RLamb Man that's a bumem to hear - I have a hard time believing the cables are that sensitive, my Nikon D500 worked liked a champ with the stock Nikon cable which is many years old....I also noticed the physical connection the USB cables make with the ASI are loose, you can wiggle them side-side easily. And for the longest time I thought that was the issue...merely breathing heavily on the cable made the D5300 lose connection. So far I'm still OK with my latest D5300 cable, but again I'm always anticipating it failing like the others.

ruben Not sure I'm following you on why you also connected a shutter release cable? I don't have one and it works fine. I just have the USB cable from the camera to the ASI Air Pro.

Okay, give me a second try... I first thought I would need just the shutter release cable to connet to the ASI Pro. This was my mistake...
Then I bought the Data Cable and now the connection seems stable (the physical connection is firm).
I need the shutter release cable only to have longer exposure possibilies (than the 30s available in the Nikon Menu)...
        Good Luck

ruben OK - but I routinely do longer than 30sec exposures without the shutter release cable, just set the D5300 to bulb and use the ASI Air Pro to set whatever exposure length you need - no release cable required...

The 2 cable solution doesn't make any sense because the D5300 is not in the list of cameras that need a release cable (see ASIAIR pro manual page 9). It does not have the 30s limitation. You can set it on bulb. However,
I am having the same issue with my D5300. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
I am wondering if the temperature has something to do with it. At home at room temp, it seems to be working more reliably, although I've seen it disconnect also. If I am outside imaging at 40F ambient, once it disconnects, it can't connect again ever... I ended up using an old fashioned intervalometer which partly defeats the purpose of having an ASIAIR pro. This is really frustrating. It would be good to know which part of the system is to blame. The cable? The camera? The wiggly ASIAIR USB ports? The ASIAIR software? 🙁

ulysses2020 I agree it's very frustrating. These products are marketed to "improve" life, make things easier, etc. And they do...but only when they work properly. Seems like too many people with the D5300 are having this same issue . ZWO's only response thus far is...it's the cable. Well if that's the case and the cable needs to meet certain specs, then those specs should be spelled out or the PROPER cable should be included for a nominal fee for D5300 users. I'd gladly pay a small fee to cover the cost of the proper cable to give me more confidence on system use. The D5300 is a rather popular Astro DSLR, at a good price point. And let's face it, anyone using the ASi Air Pro isn't using really high-end gear for the most part...so it's target market should be the amateur hobbyists, and they should do the right thing and include or offer the proper hardware (cable) for particular customer's needs.

I'm having the same problem. I really don't want to have to use two cables. I haven't tried the usb but don't I have to have the shutter release to take pictures at the right settings?

I had connection problem with my D5300 connecting ASIAIR plus. whenever i plugged usb cable to asiair plus, the camera froze.

Solution: purchased a new USB cable that had a different pin structure. 1st one works, 2nd one does not.
