kotka what software you used to control CAA? ASIAIR or others? could you submit a bug report in ASIAIR If you use it?
CAA has a machine limition position, so should not have this issue, maybe we can figure out the problem via the log, thanks.

Is there any way to download ASI Studio v15.1? It had the Edit option for the Current Position, which allowed changing the Zero position of the CAA.

KB1911 Sorry, It's a immature function so we removed it. it can not remember correspondence between the mechanic angle and plate solve angle, when the users plugged the CAA, the angle will be changed, which will cause some confusions.
May i ask what is your use case for this function? We're currently optimizing the CAA function, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi friends
can you share some info about fixing above issues? Its mentioned many times here and at the FB groups including official ZWO Astro group bu no real response.
As I mentioned several times (and others too), users with anything else then refractors cannot use flats shooted with different angle then lights. Not only is not clear, what angle has been shooted each flat (especially with strange rotations what does not solve the 180° limit option in current beta or current full version of AsiAir), but mainly with fact, that shooted flats is impossible to identify what angle been used when the flats series been shooted. For stacking its real pain. Probably best would be to include CAA angle in the name of any file (flats, lights..) so will be immediatelly visible in WBPP or other stacking sw, that those lights are with 124° angle and it need matching angle flats identified by degree value in name. Or flats can be grouped by angle in sub-folders and easy group renamed before processing. Its real pain to return from shooting and guessing what flats are what angle as there is no way how to identify it other the exact shooting time and written notes. Maybe even autorun logs with this info would help too. But easiest will be simply ... aXXXd somewhere in the filename (like a124d) what would identify that those files angle is 124 degrees.
Here is quick example from SCA260 scope, what is super cassegrain - rotations by 90°. Impact on flats is massive.
Please let us know the progress. Many of my friends (mainly with RC or newtonian scopes) decided to not buy CAA until this will be solved.

The 180 degree limit with Asiair sometimes does not work, the behavior is random.
I have now done 20 sessions with the CAA and I have verified that sometimes everything goes well and when the meridian changes the CAA stays in its place. Other times the CAA decides on its own to rotate, despite the 180 setting.
Now I limit myself to using it to remotely center the frame and then disconnect it to avoid trouble. Unfortunately in this way I give up subjects with mixed vertical and horizontal frames.
The software with unreliable behavior absolutely needs to be resolved.

Tech@ZWO Unfortunately this limitation function is not stable. I have the same problem as Grignesco Grigneco. After meridian flip, CAA randomly rotates or stays despite the 180 setting. It might be a good idea to add an option "rotate after meriadfian flip" which should be by default deactivated. When deactivated, CAA should not rotate, no matter if you have chosen 360 or 180 degrees.

Tech@ZWO Hi, I have recently purchased and set up my CAA, unfortunately I’ve only had one night clear enough to do any imaging but I was very impressed with the GOTO from a previous image and it just worked and adjusted the angle without any intervention from me. I would confirm the previous post that mine does not start up immediately unless I got to the settings, not a huge problem but made me think that I had an issue. I have tried alternative USB arrangements via the ASIair or via the ASI533 but the same happens in each case. If it were to start up automatically that would be welcome. I would also support the idea of +/- 90° limit from home position if that were to be made available.

@ZWO I just don't understand why the company continually dodges all requests about completely disabling 180 rotation after meridian flip. 99% of imagers don't need this at all. Just offer the option to completely disable it. Countless (most?) users are frustrated with this choice. It can't be that hard.

oneredpanther We released a roation limition function in ASIAIR, you can choose 180 degrees to avoid the rotation after meridian.

Again, you completely dodge the request. We don't want just a 180 option. We critically need a 'disable rotation' option after meridian to preserve our flats.

Without this you're at best creating double work for everyone, and at worst (if the rotation is not exact) actually destroying the purity of entire runs of light frames.

It's so so so basic I don't understand why you can't just ship the zero-rotation option.

ABghv5cx I unfortunately just came across this problem as well, the first meridian flip I had with this two nights ago there was no rotation but the numbers flipped in the app which scared me that it did in fact rotate which luckily it didn't. So I thought all was good.

However the next night, (last night) it must have rotated at the meridian flip for some stupid reason, despite the 180 degrees chosen and it not doing that the night before. I was not by my rig as I figured since it worked the first night it was fine and working as it should. However I came back to my rig with the EFW slammed into my mount/cables tangled/being stressed. So the next meridian flip I do I will make sure I'm standing by my telescope and will create a bug report when it happens again. Although I'm kind of scared to use this thing again until theres an update as it's very capable of destroying our gear.

I have many other issues/gripes with this as well that should easily be fixed in software but this is the most pressing need by far.

Tech@ZWO I cannot, because when I press Bug Report on my Asair (2.3.2(11.81)), and fill in the login information, it says:" The format of email is incorrect" and I cannot report anything.
Anyway, meanwhile I got a similar failure without meridian flip: this time I was imaging on two consecutive nights the same target (no meridian flip involved this time). On the first night, the rotator correctly rotated the frame @165 degrees. In the second night, when starting "Plan" Asiair slewed the telescope to the target, but insted of not rotation (because I had left the installation from the previous nighht and rotation should have been already correct) the frame was rotated by 180m degrees. Unforttunately, I could not send a bug report (see my first line of this poist).

I've put mine back in the box. Sometimes it is better to accept the loss and not keep going and risk cable/camera damage (sunk cost fallacy)
