elpajare Hello. I’m afraid this does not fit with my current experience of v. 2.4.3. In order to make sense of all this, can you detail the ASIAIR version you are running (together with the firmware number) and also detail the iPad version you are using (together with the software it is running)?

It's the latest version available for download on the Play Store, and the tablet is one of those cheap Amazon tablets, running the latest version of Android.
It's generally worked fine for me. Occasional glitches are almost always due to passing clouds.

This info is available under something similar to
settings > about phone
AND settings > about phone > software information

Can you also confirm your ASIAIR App version is 2.4.3 at the time of writing.

Last night at OkieTex I was successful with setting up and polar aligning both my AM5 and a AP900GTO mounts with a Air Plus and a 2600air. Did focus and guiding fine. Did some images with the plus scope using autorun. All worked normally.

Yes both with this latest version.

I received my 585mc air recently and downgrade it to 2.3.3.

Everything works fine and as expected.

I did not try the 2.4.2 as some people reported bugs and I think I don't need the improvement of 2'4'2 as I'm a beginner. But HCG at 200 should be a nice to have as soon as possible.

For now my set up is working fine with the 2.3.3 and this firmware is exactly what a customer can expect when buying such camera.

My ASIAir Mini with v2.4.2 does not work with polar alignment. I tried to revert back to the previous firmware, which I was able to do, except I was NOT aloud to proceed into and use the app unless I use 2.4.2. SO whats the point of reverting back? Why can't I use an older firmware?

When polar aligning, I tried using my iphone, and two different android tablets. Redownloaded the app, reset the airair mini, but polar align just doens't work. It might do the first plate solve, move the mount, then when it tries to take the second photo it just gets stuck on loading. Or, it wont' get that far and it's just a blank screen without plate solving.

I drove 3 hours to my dark site to find out I was being forced to flash a new firmware, that breaks the polar alignment, then unable to proceed into the app with the older version.

ZWO, can you please fix this version so that polar alignment works, and can you please allow users to proceed without updating the firmware? If you choose not to do these things, please explain your reasoning.

Took my rig out last night with an iPhone loaded with version 2.4.2 and an iPad with 2.3.3.

With 2.4.2 installed I was able to polar align with the main camera plate-solving (camera is an ASI2600MC DUO), but after that struck endless trouble. ASIAir kept dropping the connection to the guide camera in the ASI2600MC DUO and dropped/reconnected the EAF frequently to the point it was unusable.

Went through the cycle of restart ASIAir, set the mount to PARK, sync to the mount, and retry several times without much success. I managed ONCE to get it to GOTO a target, configure and guide for a few minutes. It attempted multi-star-guiding... the whole time it showed "GUIDING" but actually the mount was drifting and the image has stars like "snakes".

After an hour of this I stopped, posted an error log, applied a factory reset, then reverted back to 2.3.3 for the rest of the night, which worked as usual.

2.4.2 is not yet fit for use.

Bought a Touptek StellaVita today - despite its software also being incomplete and buggy - but if that works I'm switching.

I have an ASI 2600 MC-Air Color, and since the update to 2.4, it regularly loses connection to the internal guiding camera! Unfortunately, since I don't have a backup of my iOS 2.3.3 version, I now have to buy an Android tablet and can no longer use my M1 laptop.
What a pity.

5 days at a star party with four long imaging sessions. 2.4.2 was faultless throughout. Despite passing clouds Guiding averaged 0.4. WiFi rock solid.

As expected we have no more 2.4.9 on TestFlight. Brilliant. I have two friends who gave up their scheduled sessions hours ago as they’re unable to use some of your most expensive equipment. They had enough and bought StellaVitas.
PMTeam@ZWO stop this nonsense and provide what’s necessary to get your stuff working. We have lost our patience.

Pretty clear ZWO are not going to fix the bugs.

We have the following choices:

Beg, borrow or buy a silicon MacBook Air, M1 onwards can run the real ASIAir 2.3.3 from May. Works well enough. Ask and I’ll post a new link.

I can live with this in the short term but there’s clearly no willingness from ZWO to stop adding stuff no-one asked for and fix bugs first and foremost.

Switch to the Touptek Stellavita. It too is buggy and unfinished poor grade software, but I got it working finally tonight.

I hope Touptek are seizing the opportunity to get their act together and grab market share. The one thing it doesn’t support are rotators but I can live with that.

Switch to StellarMate.
Back to a micro PC (NUC) + Windows, INDI, NINA, PHD2 and the rest.

Luxo Yes, a link to 2.3.3 would be great. 2.4.2 is a mess. Meridian flips are broken, and plate solves are inconsistent. Many thanks. Running on an Apple Silicon MacBook.

Luxo another interesting option could be installing StellarMate on the StellaVita as it's literally a CM4 on a custom carrier board, like the first ASIAIR Plus revision: I did it on my first one and, apart from having to recompile the kernel to add support for the out-of-tree USB controller ZWO used, it worked flawlessly (cross compiling for the CM4 works great).

Or just buy a decent (not necessarily expensive) Android device that meets the system requirements to run the your choice of ASIAIR App of you're going to buy stuff anyway (but should at least run Android 13, 6GB RAM/Memory, 128GB storage).

For Android - to disable auto updates - you go to the Play Store app, then go to the ASIAIR App product page, tap on the triple dot menu in the top right of the screen, then untick the auto update box.

A rare clear night in London last night so I attempted to start some imaging on my iPad with the stable version 2.3.3 which I had installed after major problems with 2.4.2. This was the first test of 2.3.3 and unfortunately ASIAIR on the iPad froze in one of the startup screens consistently. I’m getting frustrated with this whole thing (two ASIAIR2600 Air Duo cameras - MM and MC) that I decided to upload the problem version once more - 2.4.2 (42.15). Mount was accurately alligned, focus good, plate solve quick, goto perfect. I started guiding while on NGC 7000 and, unbelievably, all worked well with 5 x 360sec perfect light frames and good guiding. THEN, for no reason I can determine the guiding suddenly went haywire, crosshairs on the screen ramaining stationary while the guide box containing the guide star drifted down to lower left (though the screen still showed the message "Star(1187,1007) Guiding". This continued to happen no matter which guide star was selected (I video’d this around 12 times via my phone). Eventually gave up, returned the mount to home position then selected another target, the Heart Nebula. Again, only 3 x 360sec good light frames this time before a repeat of the guiding failure. By the way, no clouds, absolutely clear sky for here. Gave up. I have a log file of the failure event but don’t know how to sent it to ZWO after the event. I’ve also pictures and video of the failures.

gm6wS8xS it may be worth trying one of those, just to see if ZWO is making any actual progress. Sadly I don't have an Android device, but I could use Waydroid on Linux. If only I had some clear nights...
