Dsqh3WbQ I am glad to report that updating to 2.5.2 seems to have made the asiair a good option again.
The 220mm guiding worked very nicely for the conditions, .3 to.4 RMS and no L shaped star trails this time. The guide screen was not all gray either. Wifi disconnects and reconnects were much improved too!
I'd like to get a few more sessions in with 2.5.2 to be sure I don't discover any old or new issues. If I don't run into any issues this one might be worth not allowing the app to update any further.

Bug & Request: I’ve heard there are over 100 ASIAIR’s (including mine) running remotely at Starfront Observatories in Texas. ASIAIR with AM5N really needs a way to set and lock a remote location and timezone. I have location services turned off for ASIAIR and always “ignore” location access when starting up. But occasionally, it still picks up my home location even if I never “sync to mount”. Also, I have to change my iPhone/iPad timezone because ASIAIR always syncs to app timezone.

There are a lot of remote ASIAIR’s out there. It would be nice to make ASAIR/AM5 make it easy.

heyjp Hello, The current version of ASIAIR now supports location setting. After selecting your frequent location, the app will default to this location every time it launches. You can try out this feature according to the image below.

Agreed - the default option should be that location is set manually (by entering values). A button to use the current device location (GPS) should be the option.

At present this is the wrong way round.

I’ve just tested 2.5.2

Mount:CQ350
Main camera: ASI2600MC DUO
Guide camera: ASI120MM Mini (piggyback guide scope)
EAF and CAA.

2600 is powered from battery.
No issues with USB devices so (1 hour)
Polar aligned OK.
select object & GOTO with platesolve OK.

selecting “object” does not crash in 2.5.2 - that crash was in the beta of 2.5.8

Other issues:

At present adding a custom object is only possible by creating a PLAN.

It needs a function in PREVIEW and in the Sky Atlas to add a custom object using the current mount position.

Adding custom objects 1 by 1 is painful. It needs a function to insert a list of custom objects using a delimited text file (eg a table from MSExcel), ideally able to store say 200-300 objects. Not thousands.

Otherwise so far so good. Even got video to work.

I am surprised by version 2.5.2.

It is a good release.

Tonight I loaded ASIAir with ASI2600MC DUO, ASI120MM Mini, EAF and CAA plus heat strap and fans. And it all worked with not a single hiccup.

I could not get the crash to occur again.

It's close to full moon - the next opportunity to test under dark sky will be April 16-18.

I updated my ASIAir Plus to v2.5.2 on Friday and my AM3N mount suddenly stopped working. It will not connect to the ASIAir via usb, to a laptop via ASCOM, or SkyAtlas on my ipad. Both my laptop usb icon and SkyAtlas flash rapidly between connection/no connection The mount is unresponsive to the hand controller which is generating a wifi signal. The mount power button shows power, but I can hear the relay click on and then off immediately, or not click on at all, when I press the button. Mount was running the latest firmware, v1.8.8, with no problem before the ASIAir update. I have tried different usb cables and power supplies. I have tested my updated ASIAir with another mount and it works. fine. Any ideas on how to bring the AM3N back from the dead?

That's odd. I wonder why the firmware update to the ASIAIR Plus would break the AM3N mount? Considering the mount also doesn't work with a computer or SkyAtlas (so not linked to the ASIAIR) that's a strange one.

Questions:

Did you have your mount (and/or any other equipment) plugged into the ASIAIR USB ports and/or connected to the ASIAIR power outlets when doing the firmware update?
Were you powering the ASIAIR from the AM3N mount at the time of the firmware update?

Yes, the mount was connected via USB to the ASIAir at the time of the update.
Yes, the ASIAir was powered from the AM3N.
I know it's strange, but I don't think the mount just failed by coincidence at the same time as the Air update.

Ah. You may need to submit a support ticket to ZWO (https://support.zwoastro.com/). See if there is a way to hard reset/factory reset the mount.

Ideally, when doing a firmware update on the ASIAIR (or for anything really), you don't have anything else connected to it and it is being powered by its own power supply (so not via the mount).

I can get by without these because there are simple alternatives.

The suggestion that I miss most of all - and REALLY wish you would implement - is https://bbs.zwoastro.com/d/25221-asiair-duo-cameras-guide-sensor-field

It can't be that hard, and it would provide something which is not possible with off-axis guide cameras.

All those using DUO cameras would be overjoyed, especially those using longer focal length scopes - and there are quite a few. I know small refractors are very popular in China but elsewhere there are many using large Newtonians or 9" - 11" SCTs, and even a fellow using a 350mm CFF f/15 cassegrain.

PMTeam@ZWO I submitted a support request on March 29, which was confirmed as under review, but I have not otherwise heard back. The mount is completely unresponsive and cannot be connected to by the ASIAir, hand controller, laptop or bluetooth, so I'm not sure what you mean by submitting a bug report "when the issue happens again," The ASIAir is fine, the mount is dead.
