AP and STA Mode BUG Fixed Statement - ASIAIR [v1.8.3 - 9.12]

I think wifi dropouts have been a problem with the Pro from the start. When I'm doing a polar align, if I stand between the Pro and the wifi repeater I have about 3 metres away, the connections drops out. If this happens during a refresh you have no option but to start over as there's no way to cancel the incomplete refresh. During the week or so that the 1.8.2 update broke station mode I used an ethernet cable and have to say it worked flawlessly. I'm back to station mode wifi with the 1.8.3 release and it seems to be working at least as well as well as before 1.8.2 - still loses the connection occasionally even when I'm no where near the Pro.

franco Have you tried different orientations of the AAP, e.g. the top facing towards you? I never have an issue w/ the top facing towards me and the on/off switch facing the ground.

klaus I have the AAP mounted on the tripod spreader so it's horizontal at all times and doesn't move with the scope.

franco and you‘re loosing signal. I have it mounted to the tripod leg and it works even w/ me sitting in the car all doors closed. Just an engineer‘s 2c…

klaus I only use station mode. My phone is connected to my home wifi router and the AAP to a repeater placed 3m away. It's not a huge issue for me, just mentioning that it's always been like that and not got any better or worse with software updates.

altair60 Hello, USB 3.0 will affect WiFi signal. Please keep the USB 3.0 cable away from the antenna or use 5Hz WiFi.

The USB3 cable is not near the antenna and has nothing to do with the issues I'm experiencing with the ASIAIR PLUS in that sense.

As I stated in my previous post...
The problem is that if the camera(s) are plugged in to any USB3 port at startup the device will not recognize the cameras and immediately after completing boot up the wifi is disabled.
If the ASIAIR PLUS is started with the cameras unplugged the device boots up as it should, the cameras can then be plugged in, and all operations are normal, wifi stays connected and STA Mode works 'fine'.

My use of the AAP/ASIAIR PLUS has not changed in the 2 years I have used them.
The cabling of the ASIAIR PLUS has not changed since the day I received it in September as a AEO.
Everything has worked fine.
Immediately after downloading 9.10 these issues began.

There is definitely a issue with the ASIAIR PLUS and its directly related to that update.

Doing a reset or re-install does not work as well.

I am using galaxy tab a. Tried with galaxy a50, same thing. Started with update 9.09.

I'm also still having issues with mine since the update, if I'm connected to the AAP directly I can't move my Galaxy Tab more than 2m away from it, and in STA mode it also keeps disconnecting, I'm getting pretty frustrated with it.

@asiair@zwo#53166 So if you will have a look to social media you will see, that the ASI AIR+ has major issues with wifi, obviously as the AAPro. So, please check it up, the devices are so cool - but it is actually a real WIFI Gate like the iphone 4 "antenna gate" long time ago...

We like your products and are very hopeful that the WIFI issue will be fixed as soon as possible. At the moment the ASI AIR+ cannot hold the connection (drop outs, reconnctions, connection loss, fail name it) It does bother both, 2.4 and 5Ghz. As some other members here in the forum said - it "smells" like a driver problem or somewhat in that direction...

All of the noise about the problems with the new update finally prompted me to do a copy of my original disk.
Used Applepie and think I did it correctly but when I inserted the copy into the slot, the AAP did not boot. Obviously am missing a step..What is it? Tried out the new polar alignment and it worked well but using Polaris is easy and I don't worry about the scope impacting the tripod. WiFi has no issues with no drops over a 3 hr run. Cloudy here so I shut down for the night.

Do you mean ApplePi Baker?

If so, when you backed up the original disk to the computer, did you first select IMG as the file type to save to (at the bottom of the Save Backup As... window)? Don't choose Zip or any of the other compressed formats. Choose IMG (Apple Disk Image) format.

I have found that this problem might be also power related. My gear is powered through gem45 saddle 12V port. To this day (before 1.8.2-1.8.3) I had no problem. Yesterday I tried powering asiair pro directly from battery and there were no issues with camera and wifi connection. Gem45 outputs 3A and maximum current draw of whole system is no more that 1.8A. I also measured voltage direct from battery and that which comes from 12V saddle port. Difference was only 0,03V. So why would asiair behave like that if there is abundance of electrical current.
